Teaching British Values

The DfE have defined British Values in terms of the promotion of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect, along with tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. At St Thomas More School we recognise that these values are not uniquely British, but they do lie at the heart of a healthy, peaceful and sustainable society. We link 'British Values'  to our understanding of key gospel messages, so that core ideas can be reinforced regularly throughout school and in our curriculum. We teach the importance of ‘British Values’ by exploring the idea of what it means to live a good life, within a framework of Catholic Christian Values. Ultimately, we aim to ensure that our pupils become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat each other with respect and tolerance, regardless of background.   Click on the document below to see how we promote British Values at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School. Teaching British Values at St Thomas More School
