To celebrate World Book Day, pupils in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 have been invited to St. Francis' College to meet with the internationally bestselling author-illustrator Alex T Smith, creator of the Claude books.
The Claude event for schools will take place at St. Francis' Theatre on Tuesday 5th March at 1.15 pm and involves live drawing as well as a draw along. There is no cost to parents for this visit.
Author-illustrator Alex T. Smith is the award-winning creator of the bestselling Claude series, which is published in 16 languages worldwide, as well as numerous picture books. Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure, the first book in a new series published very successfully in 2017. Alex is also widely acclaimed for his work illustrating children’s classics: he won Children’s Book Winner of the World Illustration Awards 2016 for his illustrations in a new edition of Dodie Smith’s The Hundred and One Dalmatians. He has created new art for books by Enid Blyton, Eva Ibbotson and Richmal Crompton. Alex has won the UKLA Picture Book Award and the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Award and been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Award. He was the official World Book Day illustrator in 2014. Claude debuted as at TV programme on Disney Junior in June 2018.
If you would like to order a book for the author to sign and dedicate to your child, please complete the order form and return this to school in a sealed, clearly labelled envelope with the exact amount enclosed.
