Jun. 6 - 7, 2019
The children should be taken by parents to the Wymondley Woods Centre, Wymondley Road, Willian. SG6 2UB on Thursday 6th June at 9.30am. Parents should collect their child from the Wymondley Woods centre on Friday 7th June at 2.45 pm.
Mrs Batty has planned a detailed programme of activities for the visit. The children will participate in orienteering, compass/map work, environmental observation of trees/plants/wildlife, 2D and 3D artwork, mathematical problem solving plus a camp fire sing-song on Thursday evening.
Mrs Batty will have the usual first aid kit for any minor mishaps. If your child has a special medical need, allergy or requires medication to be administered, please give Mrs Batty written instructions and clearly named medication. Please also check that the emergency contact details held in the school office are up to date. If your child uses an inhaler please be sure to give Mrs Batty a spare one. We enclose a green OV7 form which requires completing and signing please.
The cost of the trip will be £25.00 Should you find the cost prohibitive, please contact me in confidence and I will do my best to help. No child will be excluded from the activity because of the cost. Please make your payment via the online ParentPay system by Wednesday 15th May. Mrs Batty, and two other members of staff have agreed to spend the two days (and a night) at Wymondley. We have also arranged for Arena Security to be present on site for 8 hours overnight, to ensure the safety of the children. The cost of this has been included in our calculations, as well as the cost of all of the food that will be provided.
We would appreciate some parental help in supervising the children during the activities in the day, with the preparation of the meals on Thursday evening and Friday lunchtime, and with the clearing away at the end of the visit. If you would be able to offer any assistance and have a DBS in place with the school, please advise the office. Thank you.
Pupils will need to bring their overnight bag with all clothing and equipment required for the 2-day visit. A kit list is provided below as a suggested guide to what to pack.
The children will be occupied ALL the time so there is no need to bring electronic games, ipods, mobile telephones or anything of that nature. If they want to bring an inexpensive/disposable camera that would be useful for recording their individual work. Please note that the children should not bring mobile telephones or smart watches.
Should any parent not wish their child to participate in the trip, alternative arrangements will be made in school. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns. There will be a meeting for parents about the Wymondley trip on Wednesday 15th May at 3.15 pm in the Year 3 classroom. Further information will be provided at this time.
