World Book Day

STM celebrated World Book Day in traditional style by dressing up!

Following the huge success of Achievement for All's Ten Million Minutes Reading Challenge in March 2017, which saw children in schools across England and Wales read over 15 million minutes, the challenge returned today, but this time, throughout the UK with a target of 100 million minutes!

Across the UK, up to two in five children in disadvantage communities have difficulties with literacy. Introducing all children and young people to the habit of reading in everyday life can improve communication skills and brighten future prospects, unlocking new worlds and possibilities.

10 minutes of reading a day can make a huge impact to a child's development, so imagine what 100 million minutes can achieve.

All you simply have to do is support your child in reading every day and log their minutes on their special bookmark. These minutes will be collated and entered into the main database. There are prizes to be won and a challenge to beat so please, please help us in helping your child.

The competition starts today and will run until 29th March. You child will be issued with a new bookmark each week on which to log their minutes.
